Salam sejahtera.

Statement on the Result of the Permatang Pauh By-Election
26 August 26, 2008

Member of Parliament, Gua Musang

Today, five months after we met with the biggest General Election loss in our history, UMNO has suffered a landslide loss at Permatang Pauh. This despite the mobilization of the entire leadership and resources of a party that has held the machinery of government without pause for fifty years. This despite a campaign that embarrassed and divided the nation with its ugliness. It is time to face the music: it is we who have been buried:
- Our leadership is rejected by the rakyat and, moreover, is rejected by our own members. BN’s vote count was less than the number of UMNO members in the constituency.
- Within and among our component parties we ran a poorly coordinated and listless campaign against a motivated Opposition.
- What scraps of credibility the Prime Minister and his Deputy had left after March 8 are gone.
Today’s report card, delivered to a Prime Minister who is accountable also as Liaison Chief of UMNO Penang and Chairman of BN, is impossible to hide: he does not have the minimal credibility needed to run the country day by day, let alone to take it in the new directions we need to go in a complex world. He may not have the credibility needed to keep the country together. This dangerous situation cannot continue, and it will not.
I appeal to the members of UMNO and of BN’s component parties to stand by UMNO in our hour of crisis, and to take a sober historical perspective. The people of Malaysia and along with them, Umno’s ordinary members, have found their democratic voice. They demand leadership that can be trusted to unite our people, to restore confidence in our institutions, and forge a clear national direction. Today is proof that this wave cannot be held back. UMNO must change. We must begin by renewing our Party leadership. I am confident that by December, we shall.

biasalah bila kalah. kalau menang lain bunyi.
suruh orang politik jadi
BERANI GAGAL
Konsep nya baik, memang diperlukan tapi terimalah pandangan orang lain. Tak mesti bila orang memberi pendapat yang lain, asyik tak betul saje. Argue professionally and credibly lah.
At least he's not tainted, he has brain and proven to be able to handle economy. (Tengah tengok menteri botak UMNO dlm TV, amat memualkan). Tapi masaalahnya, akar umbi UMNO tak beri sokongan kuat pun kepada satu-satu nya pemimpin Melayu/UMNO yang boleh diterima banyak rakyat.
Akhir kata, minta lah ahli akar UMNO buat sesuatu. Nak harap yang atas berubah, kami dah give up. Selagi macam sekarang ni, selagi itulah banyak orang Melayu akan terus sokong yang 'bukan-UMNO'.
Kalau ahli UMNO masih nak Pak Lah jadi Presiden maka ahli-ahli UMNO kena bersiap sedia menerima Kerajaan baru bukan BN dan Perdana Menteri baru bukan dari UMNO.
Lagi lama Pak Lah bergayut pada jawatan Presiden lagi tipis harapan BN mendapatkan semula kepercayaan rakyat.
Molongkolong
rakyat bukan bodoh macam dulu...
kerana ape?
salam...
Akar Umbi UMNO bangun laa...lakukan sesuatu. Bangun laa..
You usulkan siapa, UMNODU?
Adakah ini reaksi yang baik, UMNODU?
Umno to purge 'enemy' members

Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor says Umno needs to vet its members
PUTRAJAYA: Umno has embarked on a "cleansing" drive to get rid of members who have joined opposition parties.
All divisions will have to submit their new membership lists to party secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor as soon as possible.
Tengku Adnan, met after opening retail shops in Precinct 11 here yesterday, said all divisions in the states would have to vet the membership lists before submission. The recently concluded Permatang Pauh by-election served as an eye-opener for Umno.
"Many of our members did not vote for Barisan Nasional because they had joined either Pas or Parti Keadilan Rakyat. The data showed there were 90,800 Umno members in Permatang Pauh but only 10,700 voted in the by-election.
"The branches came to me and said most of them had jumped ship. They blamed the headquarters, saying we never took action even though they had written to us. I promised that I would take action this time."
The Putrajaya MP said Umno would delete the names "that are no longer with us".

A good read.
